It very much depends on your price range. If you want an entry level SLR - will do point and shoot, plus allow you to manually control a lot of settings then I'd reccomend the Nikon D80 or the Canon EOS 400D. They are both the newest in their ranges, however the Nikon D70 and Canon EOS 350D would also be super choices. I've just bought a Canon EOS 400D myself
