Telephoto Zoom Lens For Canon Slr Cameras

Maria asks…In simple terms what is the difference between telephoto and zoom lenses ?I have a nonprogramable Canon AE-1 35mm slr camera.mr.eos answers:A telephoto lens is one with a focal length longer than about 85mm. It could be a prime lens or a zoom lens.

A zoom lens is ANY lens that 'zooms' between two focal lengths.

To expand. A 'prime' lens is a fixed focal length.

Examples;
- 200mm - a prime telephoto
- 150-500mm - a telephoto zoom

- 10-20mm a wide angle zoom
- 24mm a prime wide
