Lens For Canon 60d

Richard asks…Will getting a 77mm filter work for my 52mm lens with step down rings?I have a Canon 60D and currently have a 50mm lens with a filter size of 52mm, I'm soon going to be buying a Rokinon 35mm f/1.5 cine lens however which has a 77mm filter thread size. I would like to purchase an ND Variable Filter, if I just get a 77mm filter and then buy step down rings will it also work on the 50mm lens or will there be vignetting and other problems with that many step down rings having to be
